Graduation Dresses

Made for Bucknell University's Department of Theatre and Dance's production of Crumbs From the Table of Joy. In the play the character Ernstine is on a path to high school graduation, and is making her own dress. The script mentions seeing the dress in several variations of construction. The designer, Paula Davis, decided to have 3 variations, one of just the bodice, one with the dress needing a hem and lace detail (which gets worked on onstage), and then the final dress that gets worn by the actress. Each bodice/dress was made from a chiffon outer layer that was flat lined to lining layer, and the skirt chiffon layer had French seams.
