Constructed for Weston Theatre Company's 2022 production of Marry Me a Little, designed by Leon Dobkowski. As cutter/draper I created a flat pattern by tracing an existing blouse. The designer had liked the blouse but wanted it in a different color/fabric. The fabric was a lovely light silk chiffon, so I took on this project. I used French seams for the shoulder and side seams and surged the sleeve detail together after hand gathering the detail to the sleeve. The designer wanted to use a stripe from a different piece of silk chiffon, so I cut this pattern out basted/surged it to the sleeve detail, as well as using it to bind the neckline. Hems were finished with a very delicate rolled hem, decorative buttonholes were added, and then buttons sewn on through both front pieces so that the blouse would be slipped on and off instead of opening center front.
